Conner Classic Tournament Blog

Here's something fun to play with this weekend. Jib-Jab allows you to upload your friends, family or player's photos to their engine and create your own fun song to your favorite Major League team.

We had some fun in the office and created our own with players and coaches of the 10-year old All Star team. Check it out below.

Saturday is the day many look forward to during the Conner Classic. Not only will it be a great day of baseball, but the day will be capped off by our tailgate party and skills competition.

The party gets underway at 5pm with the music of the band The Shades. The group performs rock and roll hits for the adults and the pop that the kids will know and sing along to. The concert wraps up at 6:30pm when we move into the skills competition for the 23 teams entered in the tournament.

You may have participated in other skills competitions, but you NEVER have done a skills challenge KA style before. Our tournament directors banter back and forth with plenty of antics and dancing along with music the entire challenge.

The challenge features the Around the Horn (four players, throw from home to first, first to second, second to third, third to home, home to third, third to second, second to first, first to home in a timed event); the Relay Race, the Accuracy Thow (from center field) and the ever-popular Home Run Derby.

Its sure to be a fun night had by all.
Showtime Baseball is a no-show in the 10-year-old division. As a result, it will require us to rework the brackets to allow everyone to get a three-game guarantee prior to bracket play. We are working on new matchups and opponents for the teams affected. Brackets will be updated as soon as possible.

We appreciate your patience.
After nearly 200 hours of planning, phone calls, emails, work on the fields and late night meetings, the Conner Classic tournament is underway with a pair of 8am games this morning in the 10- and 11-year-old division.

This blog serves as a way to keep you updated on tournament happenings, news and updates from inside the tournament office. We encourage you to check back regularly for the latest news or subscribe to our Twitter feed from the home page.

The brackets and scoreboard will be updated throughout the tournament as we receive scores from the fields. The scoreboard page is iPhone and Blackberry friendly, so it easily can be accessed from the fields.
